  • 2½ cups flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 5 ounces butter, softened
  • 3 ounces raisins, soaked in water and drained
  • 2 ounces candied citron and candied orange, diced
  • 1 grated lemon zest
  • 1 grated orange zest
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup Maraschino liqueur
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • Salt
How to Make It
  1. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar (use an electric mixer if desired). Add the butter, yeast, the maraschino, the lemon and orange zest, the candied citron and orange, the raisins and a pinch of salt.
  2. Mix well, and carefully fold in the flour and the milk in a slow, steady stream. Stir to form a smooth, even batter.
  3. Butter and flour (or line with oven paper) a deep baking dish, and pour the batter in. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for about 40 minutes.
