Sweet and spicy popcorn recipe

This popcorn is best served as soon as you make it. In a pinch, you can use natural flavored microwave popcorn as a base, but the clean, corny flavor of stovetop popcorn is best.

  • Yield: 4 Servings

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 2 teaspoons (packed) light brown sugar
  • 10 cups hot popped popcorn
  • Kosher salt
How to Make It
  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat and then add the cayenne, paprika, and five-spice powder. Stir and cook until the spices are fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the sugar it until dissolves.
  2. Put the hot popcorn in a serving bowl. Drizzle the spiced butter over the popcorn, season with salt, and toss well. Serve immediately.
